![]() ![]() The player controls a starfighter that can move left and right along the bottom of the playfield. The objective of Galaga is to score as many points as possible by destroying insect-like enemies. The arcade version of it has been ported to many consoles, and it has had several sequels. Galaga is one of the most successful games from the Golden Age of Video Arcade Games. During the entire stage, the player may fire upon the enemies, and once all enemies are vanquished, the player will proceed to the next stage. At the beginning of each stage, the area is empty, but over time, enemy aliens will arrive in formation, and once all of the enemies arrive on screen, they will come down at the player's ship in formations of one or more and may either shoot it or collide with it. The gameplay of Galaga puts the player in control of a space ship which is situated at the bottom of the screen. As the game progresses the enemy ships will manoeuvre faster and can fire an increase number of shots. If you manage to shoot all three you will be awarded bonus points, with additional points awarded for destroying the flagship. The flagships can divebomb with two red escort ships. Unlike the enemy ships, it can only fire a single shot and you must wait for that shot to disappear before you can fire another. The Galaxip has limitations to its fire power. There are two escort ships, called the 'Galaxian Flagship' or the 'Galboss'. The enemy ships appear in horizontal formation near the top of the screen. You control a spaceship named the 'Galaxip', and must destroy the aliens on each stage to go on to the next. In 1981 a sequel to Galaxian was released called Galaga. Galaxian is an arcade fixed shooter game developed by Namco and released 1979 and later imported to North America by Midway.
